Re: Election 2016
Clinton always has the problem of "people think she can be too preachy" (i.e., she's a lady and people hate when their moms give them a lecture), and I think such a statement may run into something like that.tragabigzanda wrote:Yea, I certainly agree with the sentiment. I don't know enough about the electoral map to say for sure, but my hunch is that doing so could still alienate a significant percentage of wavering voters.Simple Torture wrote:It's interesting that the "deplorable" comment didn't come up with Trump/Clinton but came up here. Kaine/Clinton have got to come up with a better defense than just "she apologized"--maybe make the point that, "If you are racist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, or whatever, you are deplorable. Perhaps she overestimated the number, but we stand by that word for anyone who looks at another person and sees them as lesser just because of who they are." Does that make sense?

the primary viewing demographic for the VP debate is people who hit 'Power' on the TV but can't find the remote

and won't rock the boat either way
but Kaine seems to be landing some blows now that he has cycled through all the catch phrases the consultants gave him and can talk about things he has conviction in

The gender dynamics of this are just as, if not more jarring, than Trump's mansplaining and interruptions last week.theplatypus wrote:gentlemen, please.

Re: Election 2016
No gender dynamic there. Only the worst America has to offer vs the sad remiment of the centrist politician we all grew up with. Trump would be the same vs anyone else; ignorant and belligerentSimple Torture wrote:The gender dynamics of this are just as, if not more jarring, than Trump's mansplaining and interruptions last week.theplatypus wrote:gentlemen, please.

Re: Election 2016
I can't think of one thing that I agree with Mike Pence on, but at least he knows things.

You know what--I'm an idiot. I forgot Tim Kaine is a senator; I thought he was still VA's governor.

I'm happy that this Jesus-y stuff has been kept out of most presidential discussions. It's refreshing.

Re: Election 2016
I think each side will be able to credibly say that their guy won, but I don't think Pence's arguments are going to hold up very well when compared to Trump's. He purposefully misled about Trump's positions many times.
