The lyrics might be what I enjoy least about the song. And it doesn't sound "loose" to me at all. It sounds cramped and tight all over.stip wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:I'm hearing a totally different song.dimejinky99 wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:Obviously, I disagree and most everyone else agrees with you. also, KD, i agree the album is uneven after that opening run, though Force of Nature is my favorite song on the album
Opposite. Force of nature is the best song they've written since Yield.
Amongst the waves fails all over. Too much trying to sound like pearl jam and failing by forcing it. It's play count (only 42 times played) vs unthought knowns play count (123 times)
Makes that point. UK is a truer more natural song to PJ. ATW should be but just isn't.
There's a beautiful loose but intent energy in force of nature that pearl jam hasn't managed to conjure in a long time. Maybe in puzzle and games.
This always feels like a cop out but give FoN a good listen with headphones. There's a lot of cool stuff happening underneath what is on the surface, a fairly clunky and uninspiring riff (especially during the second verse). Also Eddie gives a pretty passionate performance, some of his best lyrics, and a simple but cathartically inspiring outro.
Yeah, this is one of the more musically boring songs I can remember from the band, and the lyrics, which seem to usually be one of the first things people like about the song, don't really seem all that great. They're probably some of the best lyrics on Backspacer, but to be honest I don't think that's saying much.durdencommatyler wrote:The lyrics might be what I enjoy least about the song. I think You Are and/or Severed Hand are the best songs since Yield. This is based on how often I play those and other songs. I would have so loved to see REM cover You Are.durdencommatyler wrote:Infallible is the best song since Riot Act.tragabigzanda wrote:You Are is the best song since Yield.
Army Reserve is the best song since Riot Act.
The Fixer is the best song since Avocado.
Pendulum is the best song since Backspacer.
