Re: The Misheard Lyrics Thread
This is difficult because I think I know all the words and I'm always shocked when I'm wrong. So I have no idea what I'm supposedly mishearing until it's pointed out to me. And even then I usually think I'm right.

And, yes, Platy.
That's what I get for trying to type at work during busy time.

First time I heard "Corduroy" (and for years after) I thought the lyric was "they can, by the can, put on my clothes." The image I had was Eddie removing his clothing and dropping them on the floor in the bathroom by the toilet, and then encouraging someone else to come in and put them on. I figured it probably meant something other than that, but those are the words I heard. I was 11.

We both posted these exact same things on page 1 of this thread.Kevin Davis wrote:First time I heard "Corduroy" (and for years after) I thought the lyric was "they can, by the can, put on my clothes." We really need to find other things to do with our lives.

Oh yeah, that's a good one. I thought it was: "thinking by the can; put on my clothes."Kevin Davis wrote:First time I heard "Corduroy" (and for years after) I thought the lyric was "they can, by the can, put on my clothes." And then later I tried to convince my friend Matt McCann that he was saying, "Thinkin' 'bout McCann; put on my clothes." I knew that couldn't possibly be right. But it sure sounded like that once you had it in your head.
