I thought the music a little distracting and not in the way the excellent music in the final FA trailer was. This is overbearing almost. It's too loud in the mix maybe

Well then you run into the whole "staring at people talking" because there's so much effects work. There's no sense of presence because everyone's removed at that point, you're just watching models and CGI fly around.

The battle around the Death Star in Jedi calls lie to that point. It's some of the best stuff in all Star Wars.

True. I hope they can pull it off but film-making in the year 2016 isn't as nuanced as 1983.

The shots of the x wings attacking and flying around that space station looks as good as anything in the space battle in Jedi, I reckon.

This looks really fucking amazing. Some of those shots are just incredible. Mendelson is going to be brilliant in this. I know it.

and i personally love that Darth Vader is going to be in this. Does not look as though he will take a central role, which makes it even more awesome . Mysterious. Dark. And his presence will always be looming.

Have a problem with that and the Jedi temple on coruscant. Jedi surely wouldn't be putting statues up of themselves. Goes against how I see their approach to remaining humble and serving only the force. Not their pride or arrogance.

my one worry is that he doesn't have a great reputation as an actors/character director. I suspect that's what most of the reshoots were about. Hopefully that doesn't drag the spectacular visuals down. Or that they just got it right. Say what you want about JJ Abrams, but he is great at casting and eliciting strong performances from his actors.

We have no idea what the statue was though.

I hope it is so good that I turn into dime and buy every director's cut, extended cut, special edition, limited edition that comes out.
