I just wish the director had even a small amount of visual proficiency.

Re: What movies are you watching?
It's an okay movie, but the cinematography and lighting are utterly sterile and lifeless, and there is no sensuality in the camerawork. It's a prosaic movie. Clearly the work of a writer, not a filmmaker. Which is a shame, because the dialogue and cast are great.tragabigzanda wrote:Hmm, I thought he did really well with his wife shots. Some really lovely shots in Bone Tomahawk, its sparseness and grit befitting the story. 'Prosaic' is wrong.

When will you be doing Sharing Cinematic Values?tragabigzanda wrote:I totally agree about the lack of sensuality. I actually liked the cinematography and lighting -- looked sort of dusty and old. Come to think of it, I think we had a similar disagreement about Hateful 8. I might just be a sucker for films with old-looking mountain shots. Always reminds me of childhood summers in Idaho.LoathedVermin72 wrote:It's an okay movie, but the cinematography and lighting are utterly sterile and lifeless, and there is no sensuality in the camerawork.
