Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Wizards, dragons, princes. Very fun and unlike any other King books.

Fevre Dream by George RR Martin
Vampires on river boats along the Mississippi. Fun as hell, this one.

Eyes of the Dragon is so fucking good.

That's one of the better book covers I've ever seen. But I just read the plot synopsis, and it sounds too upsetting for me.

I will say, I'm about half way through it, and it isn't all that upsetting. I'm actually a little bummed that it isn't darker and more troubling given how the book is described. To be fair, I don't read synopses. I only read the pull quotes and go from there. But I was expecting this to be much worse. It's actually pretty funny.

Neil Gaiman is in this field and is likely my favourite author.

Neverwhere is sublime. Stardust is excellent. Really, anything by him is pretty good.

But start with Neverwhere. So good.

The Graveyard Book is great. And it doesn't matter if you read the book or the graphic novel, they're both great. Hell I'd recommend both anyway.
