Is it? As many have said before, we have gotten this same type of information via much simpler and direct means time and time again. Id say we cotributed to the letdown but i cant say it was just as much our own fault. it was totally reasonable to think they would blow us out of the water here. This week countdown to huge news was a bust.
But, as everyone is so found of mentioning, it's been four years. They were just trying to build some excitement in the community. And it's not so absurd to think that community would care about a tour. Especially since the band is so highly regarded (right or wrong) as one of the best touring bands around.

But they have been - mostly - touring for the past 4 years. handful of shows each year. and the PJ20 tour wasn't so long ago. this is nothing new or exciting. What an abortion this has become!
Bands tour. Pearl Jam is a touring band. Would I have loved an album announcement? Of course. But this isn't it. Fine. I just don't see what all the vitriol is about. I haven't seen them on stage in years. I'm pretty fucking pumped that they're coming to Brooklyn.
Sounds like you're ready for Pearl Jam management!

Yep. Good spot. I thought the clip was OK but it does sound like Knight Rider (as does this one) and fairly generic riff rock.

Don't forget that, even if you're disappointed that the countdown led to a tour announcement rather than some new album/music news, there is still new PJ music coming out soon (regardless of countdowns!). We ARE close, so try to focus on that...

...I guess?

Anyway, I thought the clip at the end of the video sounded sharp and clean. I like it. Hopefully that moody instrumental signifies what the album will sound like overall, although I'm more inclined to think that isn't going to be on the album.

Mind you, if Ed's delivery and the melody is interesting, it could lift the song.

Interesting that so many people I've never seen contribute to recent discussions are all online today to tell others that the countdown wasn't a letdown. If you follow the board you could predict the reaction this was going to have. And why where there hundreds of people logged in at the deadline; were they all here to read setlist predictions?? I'm not surprised at the underwhelming announcement but not surprised at the disappointment, including my own.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

Nope, no inside info. I just posted a tracklist that I thought looked cool for the new album, and then took it down because I realized people would think it was real. Unfortunately, it got quoted, and then everyone thought it was real...so I let them.

I expect this to be their standard Save You, Got Some, etc type rocker. I'll probably dig it when I'm in the mood for a generic rock track.

I was definitely deflated after the announcement. I just don't think the sky needs to be falling over this.

+2 basically.

my larger point is that it's part of a pattern, and not a one-time thing. but i'll get over it if thursday's announcement is good.

I was "deflated" for all of three seconds. Then I saw they were playing Brooklyn and I got super pumped. I wasn't really expecting an album announcement anyway. That's what I WANTED. But I thought it would either be tour related or info on the lead single.

I guess, I didn't have very far to fall.

What if Thursday's announcement is just more dates? Or what if it's just a ten second clip of the lead single with another countdown to the 16th?
