I had to come into work a little earlier than expected. But I had enough time to throw my headphones on and walk around for 20 minutes before I had to head in. Refreshing autumn chill. Gold and blue light. The city swirling. Watching people weave in and out of each other, of traffic, of neon.

These songs hover. They glow and surround. They are perfect for the city, for movement and reflection. I was tearing up all over again as I walked and watched and listened. These are gorgeous songs.

Good Medicine breaks me all the way in half.

The judges keep passing down bullshit sentences.
Another rich white boy getting off on his privilege.

You'll be in prison for the rest of your life.
For the shit he did to you that night.

Still you stand and sing your name
even though your voice shakes.

Keep singing the glass that holds you in
it'll break.

She said "two of them" dropped the other day. I can only assume we're getting at least one more tomorrow. I'm curious what the tone will be. She's in a zone right now though. I love where she's at. I could totally take an entire album of songs like these two new ones.

Good Medicine might go down as the most quintessential Laura Burhenn track ever. Melodic. Lovely. Political. Honest. Poetic. Powerful. It combines elements from all three Mynabirds records and still paves its own path. It's everything she does well as a songwriter and artist.

I'm starting to think we're getting a solo album tomorrow.

Good Medicine is so fucking gorgeous. It's probably one of the best songs I've heard her sing, and the lyrics are so good.

Apples & Oranges is very good too.
