10th album rumors and speculation

I reached out to a few non-Pearl Jam fans and explained the 7-day countdown and then what the actual announcement was....the general consensus was laughter. This is quite the marketing fail.

And please don't interpret any of our collective bitching as real "anger." I only get angry when Ed tells me who I should vote for in the middle of a rock concert.

I'm not sure when it was during my PJ fandom that either I realised that PJ were a 'touring band', or PJ suddenly became that 'touring band', but I think it was right around the time they stopped being interested in making music that really excited me before the subject of touring was even brought up. My main problem is that whatever a 'touring band' is, it seems to me that PJ P.R. (and fans) invented the phrase as a way of explaining why PJ prioritised playing concerts to Americans over releasing new music.

Interesting that so many people I've never seen contribute to recent discussions are all online today to tell others that the countdown wasn't a letdown. If you follow the board you could predict the reaction this was going to have. And why where there hundreds of people logged in at the deadline; were they all here to read setlist predictions?? I'm not surprised at the underwhelming announcement but not surprised at the disappointment, including my own.

I was definitely deflated after the announcement. I just don't think the sky needs to be falling over this.

My sky hasn't fallen in, but I did read it and think - this would be vaguely ok if I lived in London, Ontario, not London,UK. At least there will be more bootlegs...

Could be. I don't know. Or it could just be that this group of dudes likes playing live shows.

It could also be the continuation of their overcorrection after the Ticketmaster/No Code years where fans everywhere were abandoning ship, not because there was no new music, but because they couldn't see their favorite band live.
