You could be totally right.Walker Bait wrote:I personally think it's part of sirens.... it was said to be layered and that mike's guitar had effects on it and that it was more "ballady". Also the faster song, has only one guitar playing(Stone) and fades out just as mike is going to kick in. Perhaps this is the reason some people say it resembles STBC if mike is just playing the same riff.

You're smarter than this Joey. It's like others have said. Pearl Jam tours all the time, sure, they're still special to a lot of people, but when they tout an announcement like this in a hyped up way they've never done before, it's not unfair to expect more than just a tour announcement. On top of that, the Internet is global. They set this countdown knowing they have legions of fans worldwide and then they had an underwhelming announcement that only matters to people who live near the water in the United States.durdencommatyler wrote:Bands tour. Pearl Jam is a touring band. Would I have loved an album announcement? Of course. But this isn't it. Fine. I just don't see what all the vitriol is about. I haven't seen them on stage in years. I'm pretty fucking pumped that they're coming to Brooklyn.Strat wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:But, as everyone is so found of mentioning, it's been four years. They were just trying to build some excitement in the community. And it's not so absurd to think that community would care about a tour. Especially since the band is so highly regarded (right or wrong) as one of the best touring bands around.Thejambi wrote:Is it? As many have said before, we have gotten this same type of information via much simpler and direct means time and time again. Id say we cotributed to the letdown but i cant say it was just as much our own fault. it was totally reasonable to think they would blow us out of the water here. This week countdown to huge news was a bust.bodysnatcher wrote:the only reason this is a letdown is bc everyone built it up so much and started assuming what the news was. it eventually got into "double album, new single, streaming, free download for members, tour announcement" territory. it's 10c's fault for the poor execution... maybe not an entire week's worth of a countdown. maybe a 2 or 3 days for something like this. but it's also equally our fault as well.
But they have been - mostly - touring for the past 4 years. handful of shows each year. and the PJ20 tour wasn't so long ago. this is nothing new or exciting. What an abortion this has become!
In the end, it doesn't really matter. It doesn't change the release schedule for the new album (whatever that is). Fans will still get the new music at the same time as they were always going to get it, and they'll still be touring the same places they were going to tour regardless of how they announced it. But in the end, this is just another lame thing this band did. They seem to do lame things pretty regularly at this point.

Yes- This is what is most frustrating for me. You nailed itStrat wrote:stip wrote:Strat wrote:The disappointment is also magnified by the less than inspiring "North America Tour"
yeah, I suspect the real issue here is that people are bummed they no longer do massive tours.
Not even that. They could do far more interesting tours in 20-25 shows than their "par-for-the course" east coast/west coast stops.

I just don't see the issue. Could it have been better executed? Yes, I've already said as much. But this certainly isn't worthy of the vitriol that's being thrown around.cutuphalfdead wrote:You're smarter than this Joey. It's like others have said. Like I posted a few days ago, every time the 10 Club tries to do some big build up thing, it's a let down. Always. This is actually MORE exciting than I was expecting. I'm not saying it's unfair to expect more, but I also believe in managing expectations. If your expectations weren't met, that sucks. But that doesn't make the band worse. It doesn't make anyone evil.
10 Club was building excitement in a big way for a band who has been low key for far too long. This is the largest tour they've announced since... what like 2006 or something? They're excited. I'm excited. Those of us that are, have just as much right to be as those who are disappointed.

Re: Pearl Jam Countdown
Weird.
Over the weekend I was told by 2 different local VIPs that the Times Union Center in Albany (former Knickerbocker and Pepsi Arena) would be getting a show.
They each said they can 100% can confirm discussions were had with the band when I just called to say Albany was not included in the announcement, but do not know what happened about finalizing it.
There are open dates after Buffalo and Worcester if it magically gets added.
