God, the modern media annoys me.

"Donald Trump quickly emerge several minutes later..."

Oh how I ache for a news outlet that understands that "emerged several minutes later" is an objective statement of fact, and "quickly emerged" is a subjective statement, a distortive delivery, and is his fucking campaign manager's job to say.

Yeah, McP, the one thing I'm upset about in this election is an unnecessary adverb, too.

To say he returned several minutes later is a reported fact. To describe it as 'quickly' imbues it with other qualities, such as "brave" and "confident." Descriptive words have influence on how people read a situation, and those influences are both beyond the scope of what news media is intended to provide and dramatically compoundable over a span of time.

Consider that when people complain about the news channel they think is most biased, they usually use those words as evidence. One channel says a candidate "aggressively" stated a fact, and another says that they "refuted" a claim. It's the description beyond the fact that decides which message I am willing to receive.

Media groups feeling that they have a right to imbue situations with unobserved qualities is exactly how you end up in a place where each ideology has their own news channel, and ultimately how those philosophies become protected from information they should care about.

Well he's been the target of violence quite a bit this election. Much more than the democrats.

Apparently Nate Silver is in a twitter fight with someone over mathematical forecasting. Hurray humanity.

it was so strange because the person driving the car was a woman in her mid 40's (my guestimate) and it was your basic mid size suv. a CRV maybe.

What do you guys think of Nate Silver's predictions for Clinton winning being so much lower than other models? I guess we'll find out soon enough who is right, but it seems kinda screwy.
