I'd much rather hear him operate and play to where his voice is now rather than try force it to heights he can't anymore. As we heard on ST.
He has a far more interesting voice when it's used in the lower deeper end of the range

I hvae absolutely no problem with the lyrics and i actually lov the phrasing and the fact they are a bit strange.durdencommatyler wrote:It IS a great Pearl Jam song. Ed's delivery IS great. Ed sounds great on S/T. Ill never get Dimes hatred of that record. Hated it enough to walk out of a concert. Hilarious

Ed sounds fine on S/T, way better than he has since - dime has some inexplicable hang up about that record.
From memory, it was an early 2009 show he walked out on because they debuted Supersonic and he thought it sounded like a Ramones song (or something like that).

Getaway came on shuffle today and man is that a really fun song. Jeff really makes it dance. Kinda think it's easily the best on LB.

Think it would fit in well with the ethos of Backspacer. Replace Supersonic with Getaway and you've got something for the second half of that record.

Re: Lets Actually Listen to the Album: Lightning Bolt
Listening to this right now, here are my important thoughts:
- This album somehow sounds amateurish. While I didn't like Backspacer's production, it sounded like a very slick, professionally produced album. This one sounds just sounds not well produced.
- I have to admit I really like Sirens, no matter how kitschy it is
- Pearl Jam could still potentially create an album I would love. There are a lot of great moments here that show they still have a lot of creativity in them. My Father's Son and it's beautifully weird bridge is one of those.

The drum sound lacks power and oomph. Pretty flat.

Pendulum gets worse every time I listen to it. Those lyrics are bad.
Swallowed Whole is still very good.

The vocal melody of Let The Records Play makes me angry.

Re: Lets Actually Listen to the Album: Lightning Bolt
The melody of the chorus could be the theme of a children's cartoon
Dancing and fencing
Also so menacing
He let's the bodies droooop
A children's cartoon about an evil dancing fencer
