not that i think he's worth more than the rumored $2.5M that DET offered him, but i fully assumed that if he walked away from DET that somebody would sign him up. he's 27 and had a productive first 48 games in the NHL.

I've overall been surprised at the money forwards in general are getting. I know thats like being surprised that home run hitters are getting big contracts, but I figured teams would be tightening the belts more this offseason.

Something about how they had to have a guard outside his hotel room so that he wouldn't leave to party.

Something about how he wore the same clothes for three days during the Toronto series, suggesting he was partying non-stop.

Like everything, the truth is probably somewhere in-between it all.
I think most of the stories have been debunked. I think their just trying to cover their asses for next season when Seguin puts up 80-90 points and Ericksson only puts up 20-25 goals playing in the abyss known as Julien's system.
where have these stories been debunked? and I mean aside from Tyler's mommy

The abyss of Julien's system?? Really!! A cup win, another finals appearance within a three year span and you call that an abyss. That system has about the best puck possession numbers in the league, so if Jagr, Seguin and a few others can't score it's not the system. I realize Julien's puck possession system does not work for everyone but if the abyss helps to let me compete for the cup then as a player I'd welcome the abyss.

Yes, Seguin will rack up more points in Dallas. He'll also never have to worry about his nightlife behavior in the month's of May and June affecting his play.
That doesnt mean it was smart to trade him for 20 cents on the dollar.
I think that is totally discounting that Eriksson makes them a better team for the next two or three seasons and what Morrow and Fraser have the potential to be. I am far happier having Eriksson and an extra $2 million cap space to put towards another player than having Seguin alone. I only scored one less goal than Seguin did in the playoffs. I think you are vastly over rating him for at least the first half of his new contract.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

it's actually $5M in cap space, b/c the Bs dumped Peverley. that's the biggest win in my book.

It was smart if Seguin continues to party all night long like a rock star and then finds himself passed out in Dorchester some morning....

Something came out today about the Bruins hiring a guard to keep Seguin in a hotel room at night during the playoffs so he wouldn't go out partying. Not sure how much that was dramatized, but it's so far fetched it just might be true.

So when can we start voting on the biggest winner/loser of Free Agent Frenzy 2013? My preliminary assessment:

Winner: Boston
honorable mention: Philly (really quite smart when you break down what they've done)

Loser: Toronto
honorable mention: Tampa

Dallas probably figures that by the time they make the playoffs that Sequin's partying days will be behind him and this won't be an issue.

I mean, it is a little bit ridiculous what's going on the last few days with the Boston media and Seguin. The Boston media is notorious for being on the dicks of the sports franchises and this is more proof of it. It's like when Nomar went from a great guy to a 9/11 hijacker over night.

did you see the transcript of his first answer today?

(paraphrasing)
Reporter: What are your thoughts on this fresh start with this young team?
Seguin: Well there were young guys in Boston, but I was the only single guy...

I think the stories are coming out b/c the team is done protecting the player and the kid is clearly not interested in being anything other than a 21 yo.

I saw it, and I've never said he wasnt an idiot or immature. I'm just saying the whole Boston media throwing the departed under the bus thing is getting a little old..

It's every player of any profile that leaves, just about every time. Whenever someone with notoriety leaves, the team feeds the media a bunch of horror stories and they always run with it. It's turned out to be bs sometimes(when theo left the first time in 06 or whatever it was comes to mind.) I'm not saying some of them dont deserve it, but the fact that they do it every time makes it tiresome and suspect.
