Cleveland needs talent wherever they can get it. I don't really think they're worried about overpaying people or getting a reputation for that. They're in the same position as Oakland a few years ago: they just need talent at pretty much any cost. I like the trade and them resigning him. He was pretty obviously their best defensive player last night.

Oakland didn't really overpay, though.

The gamble could very well pay off for Cleveland but I still think it's a move that contains considerable risk.

IIRC their first round of FA's to meet the cap floor were largely derided. They were still a laughingstock 18 months ago. I seem to be the only one, but I'm thrilled that they're good now.

Something I hadn't realized until today:

Brady is one win away from tying Brett Favre (199), two victories shy of Peyton Manning (200), and just three wins from becoming the all-time winningest quarterback (counting regular-season and playoff games).

There a certain teams that make the NFL better, for me, when they're good. Oakland, Dallas, San Fran...maybe a few others that I can't think of right now.

Exactly. The previous 13 seasons made the NFL much better in that regard.

I hate them so much. I get as much joy out of watching them lose and implode as I do watching my team win and overachieve.

I will not have much of a problem with a Chiefs Super Bowl. In the spirit of this thread, I can handle another Patriots Super Bowl. But you used the correct emoticon for the thought of a Raiders Super Bowl.

Yeah, I wouldn't care one way or the other for another Pats SB. I have some die-hard Patriot fan friends. I'd be happy for them.
