[Simple Torture]

I'n having some sort of late-onset depression over this election. When it first happened, I was somehow able to gather enough information that I could understand the causes, where to allocate various feelings, etc. I was even happy and upbeat all day yesterday. But today... I'm just feeling pretty hopeless. All the liberal voices getting the headlines with their opinions -- Lena Dunham, Ethan Coen, etc -- are just killing me with their privileged opinions. And all my loved ones (family and friends) are back on Instagram sharing pictures of their food, going to watch movies, etc. It's like I'm watching the liberals react, and though I know there are some protests and calls to action beginning to take shape, there are way to many people wringing their hands or just tuning out.

Do something positive to make yourself feel better, trag, something that makes you feel good about helping other people. Go pick up litter at the park. Give your time to a soup kitchen. Donate money to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence's name (which a lot of people are doing) or give to a local community organization that has nothing to do with the election. My wife and I used to (we really still should, but babies take up a lot of time) do some extreme coupon-ing and donate what we got to local homeless shelters--they're always in need of in-kind items, like shaving supplies, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products, and you know they're gonna go to someone who needs them.

i wouldn't discount the impeachment possibility. aside from the trump university and teenage rape case that will both be going to trial, apparently; after the 1% get their tax cut passed, it's gonna just be the healthcare/energy/military/financial industries jockeying for priority on the special interest project list; and Trump might not realize that he has to do what the republican congress says, and not vice-versa, otherwise they will throw his ass out

although then trump could pump up the 'washington insider/media conspiracy' and call upon is milita of deplorables to riot, protest etc

and we might end up with a small scale civil war

In all seriousness, engagement opportunities within Big Sky are extremely limited -- it's already a nature-lover's paradise, and every around me is either rich and white, or a ski bum (and white). And there's less than 3000 of them in total...

Please hold your vomit until the end: you could always go ask...a church about where you can help people in need in your community. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find a thing.

i think the question more for trump might be, when does this current extended economic expansion end? they are going to pour gasoline on the fire with these tax cuts and the de-regulation of certain industries. this could pump up conventional measures of growth very significantly and very quickly - but that is often shortly followed by high inflation, which is normally met with interest rate increases; which leads to recession. Can they keep the employment party going through another election season? might be really hard to do. this might have been in the stars already regardless of who was president. but under trump's apparent plan, the economy probably burns white hot for 1-2 years and then by year 3 starts to tumble. and the rust belters may be tightening their belts even tighter than before, sadly. in an economic meltdown context, pretty much any candidate could beat him. unless they fabricate a convincing enough distraction or scapegoat - perhaps by attacking a middle eastern country in the name of 'defending the homeland' - but trump seems more like an isolationist than that kind of hawk ... he'd probably be content enough to take his huge pile of chips off the table right before the thing falls apart and run back down to mar-a-lago for some grope parties.

They'll blame it on Obama. The republicans are better at this game. If it tanks they will hammer it home that its obama's fault and it finally caught up to us. Then they will frighten the country and make them vote for them again. If the economy continues to grow...then they will throw parades across the country celebrating their genius.

And the dem's will take it and sputter and give us a bad candidate who can't stand up and call it like it is.
