I think it's in Kentucky, actually.BurtReynolds wrote:Do they still have that Creationist museum thing there? The book came out in 2004, so it didn't discuss Trump or anything, but it's fascinating that you chose that city.theplatypus wrote:Disclaimer: I have no idea if Topeka Kansas is a liberal city

Are you advocating for the assassination of the president-elect of the United States?

Im fine with people having guns, burt. I dont want them. I dont want to be around them. But i am fine if others doBurtReynolds wrote:Pretty sure she would, especially if she had congress and the courts behind her. Why wouldn't she? And perhaps I would still want the protesters to all show up at once, in a non-violent manner, rather than a rash of violent protest across the country. The hope is that something more peaceful and coherent will coalesce, but for right now, the sheer impact of the protests is enough to send a clear message to those who need to decide how closely aligned with Trump they wish to be.
But anyway, saying it's ok because you're right is a facile argument. Everyone thinks they are right. Especially me.

That's essentially what the Tea Party did. Then they went and voted. It worked pretty well.theplatypus wrote:I'm wondering what your ideal protest would look like. "OK fam I know we're all upset right now but let's all get organized and meet up in Topeka Kansas on January 21st"

Re: Election 2016
That's a good point I think. The various movements on the Left haven't been able to form a political wing. And I think part of that is because an entire generation of people have been brought up with the idea that protesting "just sort of works somehow. Like magic. Because MLK." The Right seems to have less of an aversion to being The Man.bart wrote:That's essentially what the Tea Party did. Then they went and voted. The right to own multiple instruments of death is far more important than individual human rights. Everybody knows that. [/Conservative Logic]Strat wrote: Bit if a false equivalency here. Sure, but it's five days after the election happened. I'm not really expecting people to have a five-year plan yet.bart wrote:That's essentially what the Tea Party did. Then they went and voted. Re: Election 2016
Yeah this seems like a completely different type of thing.
Also: one thing I haven't seen mentioned is that, although the huge majority of people protesting are probably lefties, there are also anti-Trump conservatives out there with them. One of the people I was with is a staunch Rand Paul Republican.
