No idea. But as the article illustrates, this was not a college-sponsored flag burning. The college agreed to put the flag at half-mast as a protest against the overall tone of the election. Then some kids took it down and burned it at night. The college is simply protecting the students' right to voice their opinion in a non-violent way (on a campus that is basically a bubble from the rest of society).

She did. Which is bullshit as well.

My anger with Donald Trump saying that shit is its another thing on top of another thing. His wanting to shut the press down as well is very scary.

The real troubling bit is the loss of citizenship part, not really the going to jail part. That's basically calling the act treasonous.

Yep. It's a bit concerning that the president-elect doesn't really seem to know that that's not a tool in the arsenal.

I'm a little hesitant to jump on board the "every controversial Trump tweet is crafted and sent out to manipulate people in a certain way" train, but if this leads to more people burning the flag in protest, that is going to offer Trump and Fox News some pretty compelling footage to rally their base with.

I had an imaginary fight with my brother in law this morning about me stomping on the flag or something.

Absolutely. I was just pointing out that the criminalization of that is more supported than one might think

I do wonder that, because sometimes these controversies come at opportune moments for Trump (many have made the point that hidden behind the noise of his recent tweets is a complete lack of conversations about the recent investigations into his hopelessly corrupt and convoluted business practices), but in the end, I don't really think it's a ploy; it's just too haphazard to be the work of a mastermind. I just think Trump's instinctual kind of ugliness managed to be uniquely suited for the time and place the country finds itself.

which is why he should just stay at home and be content with having been Gov of Mass., running a respected private equity firm, and having self-respect

I think he's one of the few politicians who is actually motivated by his faith. I'll bet it compels him to try and have a positive impact on this administration.

i know, i get it.

sad thing is - i don't think Romney realizes how Colin Powell-ed he'd get.

plus, Romney's always been ' the boss'

as Governor, you run the show

as head of a PE firm, you run the show

you replace management, you remove underperformers, you call the shots

as Sec of State under Trump, you run no show, you get pushed around by an ignorant dick that smells like cheetos and pets his son in law's cock

very different scenario

Yea, it's true. I can't really say I'd feel "bad" for him should he wind up in the Trump cabinet, but I'd feel...something other than schadenfreude.
