To an extent, yes. He will appoint Cabinet level positions and department heads, so we could see regressive approaches towards things like carbon control and corporate regulation, but since the House controls the money, his crazy will be held mostly in check. The most likely damage will come his inability to understand the difference between showmanship and leadership, damaging the US's reputation even worse than Bush IIdimejinky99 wrote:My pal was saying to me Trump and his administration will he kept in check by the beauracracy / heads of different departments/civil servants we call them here.
He'll want to do stuff and they'll go 'you can do this or this but you can't do that'.
Is this true?

Well that's worrying too. Matter of time before he loses his cool about that. And how often it happens. Thanks for the reply.

I wasn't really taking it very seriously but thought the idea that he might be able to do one of his twitter like rants directly to every mobile phone owner in the US has all sorts of horror/comedy potential.

Imagine he was texting similar to his twitter rants.
He could be sued by everyone in the US for harassment

Yeah. I can see why Trump likes the guy. Big, splashy moves. Media-savvy. Has thrown Reps and Dems in prison.96583UP wrote:that is unexpectedThe Argonaut wrote:Preet Bharara staying on under Trump/Sessions as U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of N.Y.

he's also gone on a limb in certain cases where they may have overstretched ... but i guess trump has his enemy's list - and if you're on it, you need someone experienced to go fuck 'em up

everything must be through the prism of trump being an S.O.B., btw

Yeah, that's not why Trump is keeping Bharara. That's just a fortunate side effect.

Bernie Sanders wrote:In exchange for allowing United Technologies to continue to offshore more than 1,000 jobs, Trump will reportedly give the company tax and regulatory favors that the corporation has sought. Just a short few months ago, Trump was pledging to force United Technologies to “pay a damn tax.” He was insisting on very steep tariffs for companies like Carrier that left the United States and wanted to sell their foreign-made products back in the United States. Instead of a damn tax, the company will be rewarded with a damn tax cut. Wow! How’s that for standing up to corporate greed? How’s that for punishing corporations that shut down in the United States and move abroad?
In essence, United Technologies took Trump hostage and won. And that should send a shock wave of fear through all workers across the country.

The more I read about Price's plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, along with new numbers via CNN showing that a growing majority of Americans want to keep it, makes me think this is going to be disastrous to the Republican party if they pull it off.
I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.

Interesting. So cutting corporate taxes keeps jobs here?
But really, the author must be completely ignorant of how the globalized economy works if this news to them. Of course companies do this. We see this at the state level as well.
