Re: MLB
Also, it may seem silly to make the ASG mean something but MLB has the best all star game of the major sports in America by far. The reason for that is because there are enough players/managers involved in the game that do actually care about winning it. Before interleague play it was for league pride reasons, but since that's not really a thing anymore we might need to put something on the line to keep it interesting.
I get all you're saying about it, but I'd not want to change things too much and then realized we fucked up a good thing.

Re: MLB
Especially with the increase in the amount of interleave play now, the better record gets home field advantage solution that Biff mentioned seems like a good way to go.

Agreed on a lot of this. The MLB ASG is the only ASG that means ANYTHING, and I dont want that to change, I love the ASG.cutuphalfdead wrote:Also, it may seem silly to make the ASG mean something but MLB has the best all star game of the major sports in America by far. Yeah, the new one is by far the best option.

Re: MLB
it's the farce of trying to sell the asg on people by convincing them that "this time it means something" and attaching home-field advantage to it. in the end, it was still an insignificant exhibition game that lasts 2 hours too long.numbers wrote:I don't get the vitriol for the ASG thing. I'm not saying it's ideal, but how is it any worse than just alternating years? At least the with ASG method homefield was earned in some respect.

Re: MLB
They marketed the "this time it counts" stuff for like 2 years. Don't act like that's been shoved down our throats for a decade. Like I said, they weren't using anything to decide it before, so what was the problem?Chris_H_2 wrote:it's the farce of trying to sell the asg on people by convincing them that "this time it means something" and attaching home-field advantage to it. in the end, it was still an insignificant exhibition game that lasts 2 hours too long.numbers wrote:I don't get the vitriol for the ASG thing. Yeah, this is definitely better. I was just kind of annoyed by the "this nightmare has finally ended" stuff I was seeing everywhere.cutuphalfdead wrote:With all that said, I'm in favor of the move they just made.numbers wrote:Agreed on a lot of this. Re: MLB
So does Pearl Jam hate the Red Sox now because the Haves continue to have more... yet they take more... and Baseball made it even worse for small er budget teams under the new labor agreement?
