In high school I had a classmate who died in a car accident the day after Thanksgiving. It put the term Black Friday in grim sense for me early on.

But, really though. People going crazy over $200 TVs? The attachment to "things", and acquiring more, is quite absurd.

Re: Consumerism
This is really the heart of what this thread is about, so thank you for getting it back on track. I try to make sure my kids understand the difference between wanting/having nice things and coveting those things, or even worse, coveting the "deal." I'm sure we all know that person who is constantly buying shit they don't need, just because they "saved" x amount of dollars on it. As opposed to not buying it at all and saving 100%.Chloe wrote:People going crazy over $200 TVs? The attachment to "things", and acquiring more, is quite absurd.

Re: Consumerism
And that's what plants crave! Right? That's a quote from the movie, yes? I've never seen it but I've read enough stupid AV Club comments that I know a bunch of lines from it. Kind of makes me hate the movie a little bit.The Argonaut wrote:But it's got electrolytes!cutuphalfdead wrote:It's not very good.theplatypus wrote:I've never seen Idiocracy.
