Cop Car with Kevin Bacon
Cool little movie. Really comes from the perspective of the children so they, and thus the viewer, never really understand what or why.
Kevin Bacon is always great too...

Yeah, it really works its way into your brain. I've never really stopped thinking about it.Strat wrote:yea the more i think about it...LoathedVermin72 wrote:Man I kinda love Cop Car.

Someone on a website I use a lot wrote a review of it, and this bit from their review made me like the movie even more:
It's not that Cop Car is a rip-off. Watts doesn't try to be the third Coen. He just seems to love the same things they do. He presents a simple yet unpredictable mix of ironic comedy and a sad crime story where almost every laugh can suddenly turn into an act of violence, where main characters are funny and more or less tragic at the same time

That short film Come Together might be one of my favorite Wes Anderson movies. And it spurred me to finally watch that Prada short he did a few years back, which was also wonderful.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

i had it on in the background last week sometime...i don't think it played all the way through thoughtragabigzanda wrote:Just saw this post. Trag, thats a perfect example of female empowering in a mainstream movie. Not bad moms or ghostbusters but that movie.
Lenny, did you wind up watching this?

The Legend of Tarzan was better than I expected. I appreciate the little eccentricities it indulges in; this is sorely lacking in most contemporary movies. Any movie in which Sam Jackson says about a gorilla, "Do you want me to lick his nuts too?" has to be worth watching.

Moonlight is well worth watching. It was a bit overhyped for me, and I didn't love the cinematic quality of the last part compared to the first two, but definitely a very good film.

Loving. It was alright, although I thought that they glossed over a lot which could have made the film so much better

Moonlight and Loving both sound unbearable.
