Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Moonlight sounds like gross Oscar bait, but I have to admit I'm intrigued by the cinematography and performances, which look great.

The Hateful Eight - worth watching but nowhere near the same level as Django and IB, even with JJL's best effort in recent memory. It felt like Russel, Jackson, and Walter Goggins were just playing the same roles they always play.

I recently watched Clerks for the first time in years and really enjoyed it. I'm watching Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back on IFC right now and holy shit, this was really a movie? (Haven't seen it since it was in the theaters)

Watched Star Trek Beyond and it was alright for a Trek movie. I did like the nod to the OG crew at the end, though I don't remember when Spock Prime was introduced to the timeline...maybe I need to rewatch? Or was it something in-between movies?

And what is it with the movies casting great British actors and then making them a horrible character? It's like a Marvel movie bad guy in here.

The biggest problem I have with the film is how much damage the ships take running into things. They're not made of adamantium (maybe they are? I'm not that big a Trek guy) but cutting mountain tops in half kind of stretches the limits of credibility. Oh and the physics involved in some of the maneuvers in atmosphere, whether on the planet or in the space station, leave a lot to be desired. But all in all it was a better Trek movie than Into Darkness was.

It's really good. And raises loads of questions.

It's aiming for Oscars but no way is it there. But a great story told really really well.

Bad Santa 2. I wasn't expecting much, I enjoyed the first one - but this was fucking awful. I've never walked out on a movie before, but I thought about it a few times during this.
