The really sad part is that some scientists theorize that any civilization advanced enough for interstellar travel will likely destroy themselves with said advancements before they can even leave their solar system, which is likely what will happen to us as well. For humans it looks like climate change will probably destroy us before we can make it out into the universe. So these meetings will probably never happen, let alone go poorly.

This is an interesting theory, but it assumes that any other civilization is as destructive as we are. What if some other alien race "figured it out", gets along, and is just exploring space for the hell of it?

Seriously, how long do they need to tell us the aliens are bad and we should kill them all?
