How has this worked at the few shows that they've played more recently with a GA pit?
That's my hope, but we really won't know till after this tour. If the put all of us on the floor behind GA with good side seats available then we may take our chances with the public sale on the next tour

I dont think they will, to be honest. There have been numerous comments regarding fan clubbers with higher numbers being in the low bowls side stage while lower numbers were on the back of the reserved floor sections.

Im sure they would consider behind the GA section to be some of the best seats in the house, but not all of them. Im just hoping they do use the sides for some of the fan club seats, they did it in DC in 08 i know because we were up on the side

Remember the Ticketmaster presale for Canada a few years back? That's how it should be done. In and out, 5 minutes, no crashes, no waiting, no burden on the 10 club staff and infrastructure, no problems.
How is it not transparent? Put your name in this week and there's a drawing to see if you get the ticket.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Which is exactly why people saying that the band switched to GA because it's sick of looking at the same deadbeat, emotionless fans show after show doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Sure it does. It just won't be the EXACT same deadbeat, emotionless fans right up front. Other people will get to exp it.
How many of those deadbeat, emotionless fans go to every show? And of them, how many do you think the band (1) notices, and (2) remembers to the point that, 3 years later, it says "I don't want to see that one douchebag that stands in front of Mike with the horse mask and leash every night on this upcoming tour, so we should switch to GA?"

As people point out, this is about $$$$$.
It doesn't matter if they goto every show, it's the same set of people.

IF it's about the $$$, why are the ticket prices lower then?

I believe you've said you have a low number and have had great seats to a lot of shows (shows many other fans couldn't get into, like the Vic, Wrigley, etc...) in the past. What exactly are you complaining about?

As a favor to music fans?

people should actually bitch about real things. If pj got rid of priority seating for fan club members that would be a huge deal. Seniority gets you the best seats available as a favor to long standing members. It still does. But a fan club is not some feudal aristocracy whose primary purpose is maximizing the privelage of senior members over everyone else. If the ga seats were open to a general audience that would be much lamer. But it just for 10c members.
No, instead this fan club has made a point to minimize the privileges of senior members and even things out for all involved so that everyone gets a fair shake -- we simply disagree about that strategy. I call that a real thing.
So if they play 5 shows in your city you should get front row for all 5 just on the basis that you've been in a club longer?
Yeah, I don't understand that entitlement.

I wasn't referring to just the Pit GA issue. I'm not even that critical of it. Shit, I haven't been that critical of anything that's happened the last few days. Cheap tickets, lottery system, and a tour. Sounds ok to me.

You can find a way to defend everything Pearl Jam and 10 Club though. Sometimes you'll take the antagonistic side only to then brush it off to "see the larger picture". I chalk to up to your "co-ownership" of Pearl Jam via being a mod here. You feel them.
Most of the things people bitch about here aren't worth bitching about, or get blown out of proportion due to the group think mentality you can get on a message board. It's not that I'm interested in defending everything pearl jam or 10c does. It's just that too much of the criticism here is either whining or self-righteous bullshit.
Stip, in the last 6-10 years Pearl Jam is:

2 shitty albums
10 Club has been an abomination of a fan club
Barely toured
Been sponsored by Target and Oracle amongst others; the same band that had audacity to put out posters with the phrase "sponsored by no one" when they were worth 1/100th the amount of money they are worth now.

Basically, the band has half assed it for almost a decade. There is very little to defend. In the pro/con list, the cons far outweigh the pros, which basically consist of everything they did from 1991-2003.
Most of that post is extremely juvenile whining. Name some bands that have lasted 20+ years that don't drastically change up their work schedule at some point. A vast majority just break up. And on the Target/Oracle thing, you're living in a different time period with a different music industry. Some of the criticism can be valid, but most as Stip said is hogwash and irrelavant. Alot of changes are basic evolution and the passage of time and an entry into a new world and dealing with new circumstances. It's good your stepping back. You should be weeded out, it's probably healthy for you and good for the band. You're holding a fork in a world full of soup.

Fair point here, though it didn't bother then for the last ten years, when they were performing more frequently

In this economy it's easier to sell 100 $75 tickets than 75 $100 tickets.

Like Coach said earlier, the 10c has thrived on this setup for a decade now, pressuring people to renew in order to keep "their seats". It was a mutually beneficial relationship for most of us (PJ20 and MSG 2010 as exceptions) for so long, it's a shock to the system to have it changed, especially for those of us who will be going from the first twenty rows to the far back end of the floor. (In that way, it's rubbing salt in the wound.)

Based on your example, they make the same money and more people get to see the show. So I don't think they're doing this change to make gobs of money as Chris_h2 was saying.

GA is still for 10c only, so you still do get the benefit of being close. It's just that the super low #'s won't monopolize the super best spots.

You do understand that the week wait is to give fans enough time to decide whether or not they can travel/buy tickets/take off work, right? You can't just announce a pre-sale and then have it immediately.

I have always had wing seats when I went to a show in my local NY. They were acutally better then being on the back of the floor. So I have flipped my lottery picks like 3 times already but settled with

1st, Brooklyn 2 GA
2nd, Brooklyn 2 Seats
3rd, Brooklyn 1 GA
4th, Hartford, GA
5th, Brooklyn 1 Seats
6th, Harftord, seats

I figured applying for brooklyn is really applying for 1 show, if I miss on those, which may happen, Hopefully they give me some Hartford tickets.

I do understand that and didn't state otherwise.

I was just trying to point out that all this uncertainty (GA or Res?), selecting, cancelling, re-selecting, and waiting is on the whole just as stressful as the buying the old way. (MSG2010 and PJ20 excepted.)

this is about 6000 degrees less stressful.

In fact I'm not sure it is even possible to quantify how much less stressful it is.

I dont think anyones life is ruined because of not being able to sit front row. However, i think some of us are now trying to wrap our head around any reason to be a part of this fan club anymore. Which, this may just make it much easier come renewal time.

My number isn't good enough to get me front row except for winning the lottery in Columbia in 08 so i doubt i will be terribly disappointed with our seats, but if we are way back on the floor then i may not buy fan club tickets for the next arena shows they do, but i won't get rid of my membership, it will still get me good seats at amphitheatre shows
