Right now it's a Netflix-er, for me. Maybe reviews will change that. I don't know. But Ed Norton's in it, so I will see it eventually.

I bet LV would be super excited if not for Kurtzman's involvement.tragabigzanda wrote:Ok, it's understood that the people who made the movie probably want people to be excited for it. The book is good, not great. But certainly give you a lot to think about and has great dialogue/pacing. Should make a really fun film.

My 10 year old loves the Universal Monsters so I might end up having to seeing this.

haha you called it. I love Cruise and am totally down for this in theory, but Kurtzman's involvement immediately makes me suspicious. That guy is cancer.durdencommatyler wrote:I bet LV would be super excited if not for Kurtzman's involvement.tragabigzanda wrote:Ok, it's understood that the people who made the movie probably want people to be excited for it. Promising how? Emma Watson looks incredibly bored...and the overall aesthetic is bland and generic as hell.tragabigzanda wrote:This looks promising. I did not read the book.

It looks like a Black Mirror episode crossed with a YA novel.

Re: The Cinematic Motion Picture News Thread
The aesthetic is dead on. It's all part of the point of the novel and what Egger's is trying to achieve. The art direction looks lights out. The movie could be a giant turd. It's too hard to tell from this first look. Could go either way. But there are things in this trailer that give me hope. These people at least read the book and seem to "get it." We'll see.

My wife and best friend both love Dave Eggers and both violently hated that book
