I mean, they already have. Either you're interested or you're not. But I can't imagine them ever making it 100% unavoidable. Like, I can't imagine every making a movie that makes little to no sense if you haven't seen Rebels. That would be pretty ballsy. Obviously, I wouldn't say it's impossible or anything. And based on what dime's saying, it may have already happened. But it's ballsy. Especially with something as big as Rey's parentage. Seems like something you wouldn't want known before its reveal in 8 or 9. But, Disney knows what they're doing. My guess is, if they're willing to all but confirm it before Ep 8, then they have larger secrets to reveal and don't mind tipping their hand on this as a way of keeping people off the scent of the really big fish.jwfocker wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:I mean, they already have. I think it would be a interesting way to utilize the rebel series which has been very solid. I'm thinking it will be a small moment that slightly alludes to her possible parentage. You know, nothing that requires viewing outside of the core films. But yeah a bold move for sure. I like that point about episode 8. It does make me think.
This would also keep people talking about episode 8 and 9. It's like what, about a year before episode 8 comes out?

Yeah, I think almost exactly a year from now. It's gonna be a long fucking wait, too. Thank god Rogue One is gonna be great. Yeah so I'm thinking there will be a flashback to something before the confrontation with Maul.

Yeah so I'm thinking there will be a flashback to something before the confrontation with Maul.
We know Maul has gone to find Obi Wan on Tatooine.
We also know Ezra has had a vision of a planet with two sons and that's where the new hope lies. Both he and Kanan need a Jedi master. So it's a matter of time before they go find him.
Will they save the Maul/kenobi standoff for the Obi Wan film though? Or make it the season finale?
Maul wants vengeance against Kenobi but Obi Wan would surely want revenge for him killing Satine?
Intriguing

Just listened to the pod cast you referenced. That guy brings up some good points about Obi-Wan and how much business and writing sense it makes.
But basically the concept of Obi-Wan's granddaughter fighting Darth Vader's grandson is just too epic to ignore.

Couldn't agree more. The fact that she could be Luke's Daughter while also being Obi wans granddaughter is amazing on its own but also raises the stakes for if she does get tempted to the dark side.
Only set report we have is that Rey is frustrated with Luke's teachings. So she may well go dark.

Oh for sure. That Luke aspect would be crazy. I'm not ready for that. All of this also gives them a lot more material for another set of trilogy films.

She said that they're meeting up with everyone involved, in January after rogue one gets released and after its numbers come in to see where they go. And the future of Star Wars films may be just stand alone films or will they return to the saga and that it's all in play and they don't know where it's gonna go.
Even if there is a new trilogy after this one though it won't be for a good long time. 5 years or possibly ten.

Re: Star Wars: Kenobi (2019)
Tying Kenobi into Rey is the easiest way to launch a trilogy outside of the main saga. You end the saga with Ep 9. But wait, kids! Here's an Obi-Wan trilogy!!!
Makes all the sense in the world to me. But if they decide there are more saga episodes to come after 9, they'd do well to wait a good long while before dropping them. 5 years seems too quick. Give it a solid decade. Star Wars will continue to have a cinematic presence with the stand alone films. I like it.

As long as they limit it to one film every year I'm fine with whatever SW film they make.
