Re: Movie: Arrival (Amy Adams)
It's sublime science fiction. The genre has always been about exploring our world and our humanity (both the ugly and the divine; the actual and the possible) and this film nails the heart of the genre. It pulls from predecessors in compelling ways but feels fresh and new. It's scary in its relevance to our current world but also feels universal and timeless in that relevance. This isn't a theme that will feel dated in five or ten or even thirty years. It's powerful and resonates.E.H. Ruddock wrote:It's been a couple of weeks and I still find myself thinking about this moviedurdencommatyler wrote:I loved it, Ruddo. And like you posted a while back, I can't stop thinking about it. There's so much to unpack and digest.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Glad you liked it joey
But even beyond all that, the themes, the tone, the art direction, the symbolism, the claustrophobia and terror and even the joy, everything about this film is crafted so well and so fully. It's a brilliant, hopeful, and masterful film. Amy Adams is captivating. Yeah... it's everything I want science fiction to be. It explores all the right things and hits all the proper notes. I imagine I'll only appreciate it more and more as I watch and rewatch it over the years.

Oh look. LV hates it. What are the chances.
One of you owes me money from that bet. Knew he'd hate it.

The drooling over this movie is getting out of hand.
LV doesn't hate it. He has stated that multiple times already.
Can we stop calling this movie a "film" like it's some cinema-scape altering, award-worthy art house production. It's pissing me off. It's basically a summer blockbuster wannabe.
WEAPON
Amy Adams performed well.
