This is going to be great
A lot more stuff "leaked" from set than TFA. But Disney has Rogue One to push right now, so it makes sense that so much of Ep 8 has been pushed to the back burner. First, they'll announce reshoots. Then we'll start seeing some real good shit. But all of that will be after R1 leaves theaters.

We'll see. Seems weird that they're just going to sit on this thing for a full year, though.

There's been no talk at all about a trailer. Could well be they'll sneak it in. Be a great way to clear it up in public minds that read his one is a different thing. It wouldn't damage R1 at all. Only be good for the franchise as a whole.

I agree. Dropping it before Rogue One would be amazing and I think a great move. Some random article I just read suggested rumors that the first teaser will come in the first quarter of 2017, not with Rogue One. But that article was careful to reiterate with words like "probably" and "possibly." So... who knows?

Computer generated effects may be everywhere these days, but there’s still no real substitute for practical ones – something master filmmakers are trying to reincorporate into their productions as much as possible.

Rian Johnson’s upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is expected to have a lot of CG, but one element previous realised in CG in the previous film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” may be going the practical route for the follow-up.

A new report from Making Star Wars claims that Supreme Leader Snoke, the shadowy villain mastermind only seen as a giant hologram on ‘Force’, will be portrayed practically in Johnson’s film with a massive puppet that stands between seven and eight feet tall.

The report reveals that it takes “several people to operate” this practical version of Snoke who will have scenes “next to real flesh and blood humans” like Kylo Ren. How large of a role Snoke will have in the film is not clear.

Jam!

Having Snoke as a practical effect if a really wise choice.
