Yeah Dunkirk looks pretty great, guys.

So before I deployed to Iraq, a survivor of the "Blackhawk Down" incident spoke to my unit. It was heavy. Afterwards, he told us "no matter how bad it gets, there is always worse". And he wasn't saying it to be a dick, I later learned before he deployed somewhere a D-Day survivor pretty much did the same thing for him. It got me through some tough times but I always get emotional, especially when it comes to WWII stuff. NOTHING I've ever done or seen was as heavy as what a lot of those guys went through. And I've gone through and seen some heavy, heavy stuff that I still work through on a daily basis. So I can't imagine what they've suffered through over the years. Jesus. That's why I say I don't want to see this movie but feel I have to.

Don't worry it's Nolan so it will be dumb and diluted

I just hope it's a competent film. So far, Nolan has been overwhelmingly good. Interstellar wasn't everything I wanted it to be, but otherwise, the guy is kinda nailing it. The trailer for this looks beautiful and heartbreaking. Hopefully, it's honest and deserving of the story they're telling.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I think Nolan is at his best when he's relying on plot and character (Memento, TDK) than when he's ramping up the effects (Inception, TDKR). I think this one is gonna be terrific.

I think I agree. But I'd put Inception in the plot and character category. The VFX are fantastic and a huge part of both the plot and the character development, but the movie relies on those latter things far more than just effects.
