Spoiler: show
Also, it was a bit jarring not having any kind of theme song. After seeing the "A long time ago..." I was expecting at least something.

I didn't miss the crawl, but the lack of anything else felt off. ( And it didn't necessarily have to be the STAR WARS THEME.)

I enjoyed how abrupt the start was. Let you know you were in for something a little different.

I really liked the explanation as to why it took so long to complete the Death Star. It works.

So did I. I also liked how indecisive and scattered the Alliance seemed.

There's a big one about it totally fixing something long laughed at and parodied but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.

The lack of Chopper in all previous Star Wars films I think.

the whole exhaust port weakness. It's an easy one to forget since it's the plot of the movie, Dime :)

Spoiler: show
the weird lie detector creature sequence was pointless. More so than even the rathtars. It would make sense that a planet rich with kyber crystals and presumably super strong with the force would see some of its creatures adapt and evolve with that in the background. And perhaps the early Jedi used them for something early on. But in this film? Added nothing at all to the story.

I think this is better than Force Awakens

Somehow even the special effects were better, only a year later

Spoiler: show
Can't wait to get the full story/mini-doc on how exactly they pulled off Tarkin

I think it's okay, since he still had to make the shot (and it does help explain why the station goes haywire on the miss). It's not luke figured it out or anything

I'm actually going to see this much sooner than I expected. I'm going Tuesday afternoon. I'll be back in this thread after I've seen it. Until then, I hope all of you are enjoying your experiences with the film.
