Watched X-Men Apocalypse and The Nice Guys Saturday. I got what I expected out of X-Men and was kind of let down by The Nice Guys. There was a lot of snappy dialogue where I actually felt like, "Hey, Mr. Writer Guy, we know you write a dialogue good, so maybe pull it back a little bit for a few scenes. Holy crap these guys are talking a lot."

XMA was the first superhero movie where I just felt the whole time like, "This couldn't really happen. This amount of damage is untenable to a real world to have a 'happy' ending." I realize this sounds idiotic but I just couldn't go that step for the suspension of disbelief.

Though I do think that's the better Quicksilver. Though was it just me or did he age to like a 40-year-old virgin from the last movie? He looked so old, it was weird every time he was on screen. Unless it was the goggles, I guess?

My wife didn't like TNG. She said, "There was no point, [there was no character development] (paraphrasing), and the bad guys won." I said it sounds like what would happen in the real world, doesn't it. We were both bummed by that.

I mean, sure I prefer DS9, but I don't see how the bad guys won in TNG.

A kind of Murder

Man, what a great movie up until the last 5 minutes. Very unsatisfying ending.

I even thought to myself, "TNG? Oh yeah." Oh well.

Watched The Queen last night. Great movie, and it makes you remember that Blair wasn't a right cunt at first. Though the part at the end when the Queen says to him, "Just wait Mr. Blair, eventually they'll turn on you as well" was kind of funny.

London's going to be crazy this coming September.

Nocturnal Animals was top-notch. I'm glad others on here also liked it. It was very impressive to see how it was all put together. It was fascinating to watch these disparate stories tie in together in cool ways.

Me too. I'm glad that Amy Adams is getting the roles and respect she deserves. Fuck J-Law.

Amy Adams has been getting pretty good roles and acclaim for over a decade now. Since she broke through in Junebug, pretty much.

Why "fuck J-Law"? Totally different types of actresses going after different roles. There's room for both.

Yeah, I don't hate her. I just find her work overrated and more along the lines of her being the "it girl". AA on the other hand is consistently great in what I have seen. I even liked her in that Irish marriage movie.
