what's to suspect? it's clear why they do it, and in most cases, it's clear that the guy had blemishes that the (insert franchise here) covered up as much as possible to protect the player. the fact that the media takes what the teams/teammates provide them is them just doing their job (selling papers/getting page hits).

The first question especially was strange, as he was asked about embracing a fresh start in Dallas after all he’d been through in Boston, and he said this:

“For starters, obviously there were a lot of young guys on my last team. I was the only single guy, so i’m excited to meet some new faces, to have a new start. I’m very exited for the new experience.”
this to me sounds like a guy who's not thinking about hockey first. which is too bad.

The Boston media is notorious for being on the dicks of the sports franchises and this is more proof of it. It's like when Nomar went from a great guy to a 9/11 hijacker over night.
did you see the transcript of his first answer today?

(paraphrasing)
Reporter: What are your thoughts on this fresh start with this young team?
Seguin: Well there were young guys in Boston, but I was the only single guy...

I think the stories are coming out b/c the team is done protecting the player and the kid is clearly not interested in being anything other than a 21 yo.
I saw it, and I've never said he wasnt an idiot or immature. I'm just saying the whole Boston media throwing the departed under the bus thing is getting a little old..
but it isn't always the teams...sometimes the reporters themselves might know about stuff but they don't put it out there because they still need to talk to the player (or players) every day...but once they're gone? Of course that's when the story will come out

As for Seguin, if what you're saying is true, then why aren't we hearing anything about Peverley, Ferrence, Khudobin, or Horton? Horton's been criticized for wanting to go to a "quieter place" but nothing like Seguin. Seguin brought all of this on himself and the team basically said "we're done with this BS"

I can't believe I'm saying this and almost defending Jeremy Jacobs, but it's almost patently unfair to compare ANY other team to the bullshit the Red Sox have pulled...some of their shit has been warranted but what they did to Francona will forever taint them

My comment about the Boston media was mainly fueled by the Red Sox ridiculousness. To be honest, I don't know that I've noticed it much from the Bruins, if at all, but the media assault on almost every single player to leave the Red Sox has given them a horrible reputation, and I just can't see past that in the Seguin situation.

This offseason, I fully expect to learn that Jacoby Ellsbury likes Nickelback, spent off days tossing puppies into a woodchipper, has a cousin who's a member of the KKK, and ate at McDonald's on game days.

My guess is that some of the Seguin stuff is true...although it's amazing to see the Boston media lap up all the dirt that the organization and/or folks associated with Seguin are dishing.

But, it's all about the clicks and getting the story first. Nothing surprises me.

I guess he's going to sign in the KHL for $15-20m per season.

You better hope so because even if the cap goes up to $70m for 14-15, the Bruins have almost 40% of their cap invested in Rask, Bergeron, Chara and Lucic.
