I was walking out of Nocturnal Animals and I heard a group of people talking about how Isla Fischer is the pretty version of Amy Adams. They also thought Amy Adams was overrated and isn't in any good movies. Those morons are not going to survive very long.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

My favorite thing about Whiplash, Chazzelle's last movie, was how unapologetically cruel it was. Just a mean fuck of a movie that's ultimately about the extraordinary power of hatred. La La Land just seems so nauseatingly nice that it's hard for me to get excited for it.

My favorite thing about Whiplash, Chazzelle's last movie, was how unapologetically cruel it was. Just a mean fuck of a movie that's ultimately about the extraordinary power of hatred. La La Land just seems so nauseatingly nice that it's hard for me to get excited for it.

I had zero interest in it, but its charm and colorfulness won me over. Nauseatingly nice at points, yeah. Gosling's character is a pretty annoying yet accurate jazz snob stereotype though.
