Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)

Post by B »

It's not as great of a movie as Empire, but Empire couldn't exist without it. Does that make it greater?
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

A few small edits to ESB would render ANH unnecessary.

So, no.

Even then, without the edits it would still be fine. Is there anything specific that ESB is missing, that requires the audience to have seen ANH?

the extra hours invested in the characters make them that much more compelling. No one needs to be established in A New Hope. han and leia would just be dicks. And the vader revelation means less.

Don't fuck this up, Disney. You want to repeat your success next year? You want to break 7 billion again? Do. Not. Fuck. This. Up.

I believe the despecialised comes as a download code with one of the releases. The last blu Ray edition I think?

Can't remember where I heard or read that. Google is your friend. Seem to remember it also has problems in the transfer.

Might be mentioned in one of the Harmy making of despecialised videos? There's a couple of those.

Why do they keep pointing the finger at Disney? Doesn't Fox own ANH in every shape and form for the foreseeable future?

Okay, well Google clearly isn't my friend. Or I don't understand what you're saying. Thanks anyway.

Ah. Yeah, there are a ton of unofficial things out there, I guess. I'm not too versed in all of that stuff. I want an official high quality physical release. That's what I've been waiting for. If that link you posted is accurate, and we have the opportunity to get 4K De-Specialized Original Trilogy movies officially released by Disney in the near future, I'm gonna freak the fuck out!

It will definitely happen.
But I can see them getting theatrical releases first though. They're also transferring the prequels to 3D but I'd say they're really thinking hard on that as a theatrical release.

Makes total sense. If I was in charge over there I'd absolutely re-release all of them in as many formats as possible. But I'd also release the thing fans have been begging for in the highest possible quality for home entertainment purposes. No reason not to. Make all the money.

I still think Lucas has a clause preventing them releasing the original Editions.

Just cos it was shown at LFL doesn't mean we're destined to get a release yanno?

Can someone explain to me about 4K? What is it?

I was gonna buy a blu Ray just for force awakens then it occurred to me what's the point on doing that. Surely I need a superdper tv of some kind to get the real benefit of the blu Ray no?
