But you are on the list of people who post here that I genuinely love and would help change a flat.

Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
The day before a Pearl Jam release is like Spring Training. Despite knowing better, we are all optimistic that this is the year we recapture the glory of past years. That this is the time our faith is rewarded. We parse over ten seconds of a song to immediately decide if the production value matches Riot Act, or if the video intro music confirms more of an experimental vibe akin to No Code. It is laughable that we do this yet we do it anyway. Give me the right ten seconds of Amongst the Waves or Got Some and I would have decreed Backspacer the best PJ album ever.
A few of us may be very happy with what we hear tomorrow, but I expect most will be disappointed as the song they hear cannot possibly match the expectations in their head. Whose fault is that? Well clearly it is Pearl Jam's fault (after all, we Americans are not strong on accountability). They created Vitalogy once, they can do it again, right? Or is that like asking the hot girl from your high school to still look like she did at 17 when she is now 46 and had four kids?
I dunno. And the whiskey here doesn't seem to know either. So what am I trying to say?
I f**king love this band.
I hope that MYM (if that is what it is really called, and I'm still not convinced) and their full length single/double album/Tides of Cold Concession or whatever the hell they call it is awesome.
But either way, I will still love them, I love the fact we are getting new music to bitch about, and come the tour I will still be as close as I can to the stage, trying to show my love to these gentlemen in a very non-folded arms way, not even caring when Ed bumbles the lyrics to Wishlist.
Hail, hail to us, the lucky ones.
