I'm not forcing anything here, dime. This is genuinely a great movie. I love it. I loved upon first viewing, and I loved it again today. Even with a noisy theater on 34th street, it was still had impact and tension and heart. I was still on the edge of my seat. Nothing got worse. I still teared up several times in the final act. I picked up on new things I didn't notice last time. Like the reference to Wedge. And Cassian saying "Rebellions are built on Hope" when they're on Jedha. Didn't realize Jyn was echoing that line on Yavin 4. Which made the line feel so much stronger and less cheesy.
Yeah, man, I'm sorry you don't like this movie much. But I goddamn love it. It's literally the Star Wars movie I've wanted since I was a kid. It's beautiful and well paced and such a blast to watch. I don't have any worry about the rewatchability of it now.
This is the best Star Wars film since Empire. Easy.

Now youve said it.
Empire is always counted among the greatest films of all time.
Will this be though?
Not that it matters a Fuck. As long as we enjoy it. But I'm warming more and more to it and I'm wondering why.
I'll always be a saga guy. Han movie has an even bigger uphill struggle with me. Maybe an impossible struggle to make me like it. Unless it a severe genre switch and it's Gonna honour that character and Chewie and is comedic or something totally different in tone.
The only thing I would have changed, as has been mentioned, is the across the universe introductions. Jyn and Cassian could have just all started on Jedha.
Han is a character that... I get why Disney would chose him to focus on, but his backstory isn't one I need. I'm not very excited for that film. Hoping for the best, and I'll see it, of course. But I'm not expecting much. Maybe that will change once the trailers get here.
I'm not sure how this will age for Star Wars fans. Since the fan reaction has already been so mixed, I'm guessing it will stay that way. Some people will like it more over time and some less. Like you said, it doesn't really matter. But I love it.

Yeah, that would have been cleaner. But I also like that Jyn is separated and estranged from Saw. Having her start on the same planet he's on might have felt too convenient and easy/contrived.
I thought the horror of the starkiller attack ramped things up a bit but that beach scene, wow. I wonder how much that resembles a real life nuclear attack...
So basically, Johnson and May spent Trump's presidency fighting each other over how best to sell the NHS to Trump.

I agree. Since it will just be Han being a lovable rouge while getting in and out of scrapes its will all hinge on the guy they have playing him. I don't know the dude maybe he has the charisma of a young Ford but its not an easy act to follow.

I think he has room to almost overplay Han. It's a young han. So he'd be even more arrogant cocky etc. It's the humour is the key. And they have Kasdan writing. Who is Hans voice. So let's see.

How much younger is he supposed to be than when we meet him in A New Hope?

He's going to be 9, played entirely by extra footage from Jake Lloyd in the Phantom Menace.

Not much younger. At all. Probably an escapede him meeting Lando or they know each other already and him winning the falcon etc. It'll be at most two years out from a new hope. It also could be right up to a new hope. Finishing with him landing in mos Eisley. Right before they meet Ben and Luke. I'm calling that now.
It would rhyme with how rogue one ends.
