Run The Jewels (EL-P & Killer Mike)

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

The final 2 tracks are still owning me. They have nothing in their RTJ catalog that touches these.
I remember when EL-P teased the beat for Thursday in the Danger Room and how hyped I was for it. I can't believe the song actually outperformed what I was imagining for it.

Also, A Report to the Shareholders / Kill Your Masters transitioning from heartbreaking to melting your fucking face with Zach De La Rocha.... My god...

The beats on "Call Ticketron" and "Oh Mama" remind me of NIN. God this album is so killer.

I think "Down" and "Call Ticketron" are my favorites. Favorite lyric: "I'm dirt, motherfucker, I can't be crushed"

On the other hand, worst lyric: "I do push-ups nude on the edge of cliffs"

That lyric is fucking brilliant.

Overall, are you more impressed with EL-P's wordplay/rhymes on this album or Killer Mike?

I find Mike evolving more and more on every release

Unlike RTJ2, which I think totally belongs to Mike, I'm finding myself more impressed by El-P this time around. But I still need some time to absorb it all.

I agree: RTJ2 edged Mike, but RTJ3 edges El-P.

El-P is such a unique rapper. No one flows like him. I love Mike's energy but I'm always waiting to see what weird-ass cadence El brings to the track.

This album is as close to old-school hip hop that I've heard in a long time. It's fantastic.

This record is amazing; maybe a hair below RTJ2, but not enough to really matter. The singles I already liked, but they work even better in the context of the record.
