Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
As people have mentioned..things change in our lives that guide us to enjoy music in a different way. When I first got into Pearl Jam, I took the music and absorbed it....was 100% dedicated to soaking in every second of the song. Nowadays? I have to fit the listens in between work, walking the dog, playing with the kids and doing the general dad duties. Etc... Reality is, most of the time my listen happens in the car with all the noise around me that comes with living life. And its an amazing life. I don't have the same worries I did 20 years ago so Im hearing the songs differently. I haven't loved all of PJ's albums since Vitalogy..but neither has that fact destroyed me. For the most part now I'm just content when I get a new block of songs to look forward to live or on a bootleg.
On top of that. The band now has a different life with kids and all the things that come with living life north of 40. There is ZERO chance this will not change them musically and alter the message that gets
A few years ago I was in NYC with my wife and she wanted to get some cupcakes at Magonolia Bakery in the Village. So down we went and there happened to be a large lineup. As we queued up, I noticed the lead singer of a rather large metal band standing two people down from us. Well...my mental impression of this guy was not family man...it was the metal head I had seen pictures of and read stories about. All of them truly in 'metal' fashion. Well..that guy was standing with his girl next door wife, picking up and kissing his beautiful little girl and talking about a cool bug with his son, with a Barnes and Noble bag in his hand. Standing in a cupcake line. Probably not so angry anymore. And that's great.
I wish the same for Pearl Jam!

I'm just being I jerk, I totally get it. I've compromised some of my lifestyle for my 20 month old (and the Magnolia Bakery onesie he can't wear any longer).

Not quite. Their wives shop together, and make them come along. The one true thing that is shattering about growing up, is that the people who you once thought were metal gods that took shit from noone, are in fact pussy whipped.griffinxi wrote:So Hetfield and Trujillo shop together? Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
The funny thing about hearing a new tracklist before the actual songs, is that I always imagine what kind of songs they might be just based on the title. The when I finally hear the songs, I'm almost always way off the mark.Juvenal wrote:Same hereDr. Van Nostrand wrote:Is it wierd that Im almost more excited for album title and tracklist then hearing the single?

I'm the same way. It's one of the best parts of pre album release for me.Sgt.
