Is there a thing in the presidency like there is in I think it's Star Trek where the president can be forced to step down if he's emotionally compromised or mentally unfit to hold office?

Wouldn't that be cool

Not really. Then his Vice President would take over, and that guy is a whack job too, he just doesn't use Twitter.

Yes, the 25th Amendment allows the VP and a majority of the Cabinet or a majority of Congress to declare him "unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office." There's more to it, but yes.

Plus, there's impeachment.

Both options are super double unlikely.

Sure. I've got a list of 300 people I'd choose for president over Pence, but he's still higher than Trump on that list.

It will be interesting if at some point, a notable critic of Trump's chooses to not take the 'high road' with some (faux) high society jab or lofty quote - and instead goes full retard on Trump in an all-out no holds barred TMZ-grade twitter fuck/shit/ass fest.

Donald takes the bait and blows off all meetings for the rest of the week and get looped in, to an endless NC-17 nightmare of never ending twitter insults until finally Robert DeNiro sobers up and decides that his work is finished here.

Meanwhile...
The Republican plan to repeal Obamacare and delay the implementation of the repeal – with a promise to come up with a terrific replacement later – is probably its best way to destroy Obamacare. Unfortunately for Republicans, it’s also the best way to destroy the Republican majority in Congress.

Something big is happening in the Senate right now: The Republican plan, affirmed again today by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, is facing dire peril from Republican defections. Republicans need a House majority, 50 Senate votes, and soon-to-be President Trump to pass repeal and delay.

If Republicans lose three Senate votes, that drops them to 49, and repeal-and-delay cannot pass. At least three Republican senators (in addition to all the Democrats) now oppose repeal and delay. Rand Paul, of all people, has demanded that Congress repeal Obamacare at the same time it passes a plan to replace it. Paul has announced that he spoke with Trump and secured his agreement on this. Trump has not said so himself, confining his comments to date to a vague assurance “That’s all gonna work out.”

More on the above:

Republicans increasingly worried about Obamacare plan
http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/10/politics/ ... -strategy/
Washington (CNN)Republicans are preparing to take a major vote this week aimed at repealing Obamacare -- but the drumbeat of concern within GOP ranks about the lack of a replacement is growing louder.

The Senate is poised to vote on a budget resolution later this week, the first in a two-step process of rolling back major parts of the Affordable Care Act. At the same time, GOP lawmakers are speaking out with force, concerned about the political backlash if the GOP is perceived as being reckless given that 20 million Americans have health coverage through Obamacare and there's no clear vision or firm timeline for an alternative.

Sen. Bob Corker warned fellow Republicans that it would be "problematic," "not very appealing" and "doesn't seem very intelligent" to repeal the law without a replacement.
"To me, it's much more prudent to figure out where you're going to go from here, and attempt to do it all at the same time," the Tennessee Republican told CNN. "People will see some of the flaws in just repealing only."

Sen. Rand Paul is emerging as one of the most vocal GOP opponents of voting on a repeal bill before coming up with a replacement package, as he argues that the two votes must happen simultaneously.

"I will do everything in my power to have a vote on it the day we repeal Obamacare," Paul told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Monday, noting that Trump personally expressed his support for this approach in a phone call with the senator.

Sessions is basically approaching his racism accusations with the equivalent of "then I ram my ovipositor down your throat and lay my eggs in your chest...but I'm not an alien!"
