Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
On first listen, it jumped out as being "Oh here we go again, Comatose/See My Friend"... but there's more to it. Bridge > solo > outro kills.
Overall, the word that pops in to my head is "promising". Unlike the words that popped in to my head when I heard Fixer/Supersonic on first listens.

It at least suggests a dramatically different tone for the rest of the album. I find that encouraging.injuddstree wrote:On first listen, it jumped out as being "Oh here we go again, Comatose/See My Friend"... but there's more to it. Bridge > solo > outro kills.

comatose and GSMF are both excellent songs. I think this is the kind of stuff they do the best these days.injuddstree wrote:On first listen, it jumped out as being "Oh here we go again, Comatose/See My Friend"... but there's more to it. Bridge > solo > outro kills.

I can deal with PJ doing American Idiot if it sounds like this. The only thing that'll ruin it now is shitty lyrics. I'm still viewing that as a likelihood.

Woah sounds Interesting for sure. The distortion makes eddie sound all death metaly at the beggining, and I keep hearing early 90s eddie in parts but im sure thats my mind playing tricks on me. Basically
is my initial reaction.

Keep in mind it's next to impossible to determine guitar tones and drum sounds here. Or bass. It's D quality sound.

Im liking the rhythm and guitars. I do hope that the guitars are working well off each other throughout the song, instead of just bashing away at the same chords like everything on backspacer.

Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
The best lyrics on Backspacer belonged to Johnny Guitar imo. They were genuinely witty and full of innuendo. They were PJ letting go and having a laugh. I didn't cream over Force of Nature's lyrics like others. And yeah, bits and pieces of those lyrics were shoddy.stip wrote:harmless wrote:I can deal with PJ doing American Idiot if it sounds like this. The only thing that'll ruin it now is shitty lyrics. But even having said all that, we're forgetting all the terrible lyrics on S/T. Most of WWS is too prosaic for me, so many words they could be a short story. Inside Job. Big Wave. Army Reserve. I'm just not keen on any of those lyrically, and probably more. Ed's lyrics are turning into journal entries too often.

Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
Here's my first stab at lyrics
I've got a funny feeling
I'm feeling down
I feel like dumbtree
but you keep coming out
I can't take it
Over the line
let's bid auf wiedersehen
with a durable fire Hamlet
Oh no my steaknife
Mind your manners
I've got a funny feeling
I'm kneeling Han
five or six rocket toilets
stare at new kids now
All my patience
Faith is strong
Bieber does acapella
Music forward sprongs
I'm overtaken
Mind your manners
I can't take it
I feel alive now
Sing your stupid daydream
I'm living with Elijah
It's all a mystery right
Hiding round the corner
Naked babies they don't spill me
Don't hide under the sky
This world of miseryyyy
I'm overtaken
Mind your manners
Always fire hydrant
I feel alive now
Sing your stupid daydream
I'm living with Elijah
It's all a mystery right
Hiding round the corner
Naked babies they don't spill me
Don't hide under the sky
This world of miseryyyy
