I'm sure this will be as good as the Entourage and Sex and the City movies. HBO and movies of its shows are like the Monkey's Paw. Leave them dead.

I can't imagine they would do a theatrical release. A tele-movie would be great but I'd rather 1 more season. If you are gonna build all the sets again why not?

No, that's Game of Thrones.

is it?

find that sorta hard to believe..they havent built a full town here(or anywhere in Europe) for the GOT thing..

fuckit they can afford it..but cost was one of the bringdowns in Deadwood..that was it sailing over the common folks heads..writing was too clever my ass, it was perfect.

I would think Game Of Thrones cost more. I think Rome was more expensive too but I believe those costs were shared among a couple networks. I don't really care what costs what I just want more Deadwood.

Game of Thrones is over $10M. We discussed this in another thread already.

"Deadwood" Movie Is Definitely Happening

It's real. The VERY long awaited "Deadwood" movie is happening at HBO. Speaking at the Television Critics Association's press tour on Thursday, HBO's programming president Michael Lombardo tells TV Line that it's definitely happening.

In August last year, HBO confirmed early talks of a film continuation/wrap-up of the cancelled but beloved and highly acclaimed western series. Since then, series creator David Milch has apparently come up with a story that the network was happy enough with that Lombardo personally gave Milch the green light:

"David has our commitment that we are going to do it. He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be - and knowing David, that could change. But it's going to happen."

The revival comes from a "palpable" sense that Milch "has something left unsaid... I've known him for a while and it feels like it's something he's not done talking about" according to Lombardo.

So when will also this happen? Milch is currently working on another project: "But the understanding is that when he is done with that he will turn his attention to [writing the] script for the Deadwood film." What about getting that stellar cast back together?

"I'm going to leave that in David's hands. He's confident he will be able to. The cast is unbelievably [tight]. Some casts and creators form a bond that becomes relevant for the rest of their lives. This was a defining moment for a lot of them."

Practically the entire cast has gone on to great success in film and television including talent such as Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Brad Dourif, John Hawkes, Kim Dickens, Garret Dillahunt, Powers Boothe, Titus Welliver, W. Earl Brown, Anna Gunn, Jim Beaver and Dayton Callie.

This is brilliant news. But I'd much prefer more seasons than a movie.

HBO Chief: No Progress On “Deadwood” TV Movie

There’s good news and bad news with HBO’s “Deadwood” telemovie revival. The good is that the project remains in development.

The bad was revealed at the Television Critics Association winter press tour earlier today with HBO programming chief Casey Bloys revealed that the project has not progressed beyond the script stage. In fact, he hasn’t seen one:

“I haven’t read [series creator David Milch]’s script yet. I know he’s working on it. But I have not seen anything yet.”

So what are the chances that the long-gestating project will ever come to fruition?

“I couldn’t even put odds on it. I don’t want to get your hopes up or disappoint you in any way, so I’ll just say I don’t have any news. Which I truly don’t.”

It was exactly a year ago that Bloys’ predecessor Michael Lombardo first confirmed the network had given Milch a green light on the project and that it was going forward.

Maybe it was the buildup... but overall I found this show to be meh. The 2nd half of season 1 through season 2 was tremendous. Other than that? not so much.
