I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. Could be. Or it could just be something I don't really notice because I don't care. It's probably a combination of both.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Then you're not watching the right setups.durdencommatyler wrote:Meh. I was there a long time ago.
I'll tell you what I did start to notice a while back, that trend for TV's to make movies look like bad Soap Operas. If that's progress, you can keep it.

Yep. This pretty much confirms you're just watching the wrong setups. Even if you don't care, the difference between a DVD and a properly calibrated 4K display is absolutely MASSIVE.tragabigzanda wrote:It's a setting (called Motion Blur, I think?) that can be turned off. Re: What movies are you watching?
Oh believe you me, I'm not watching that setup. I mean, unless I'm at my Moms and she won't let me try to figure out how to fix it for her. But that's only like once every three or four years.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Yep. This pretty much confirms you're just watching the wrong setups. The difference isn't big enough for me to spend any money. I have a decent HD TV and that's all I need.

Silence is probably Scorsese's worst movie. Pure masochism. Such a simplisitic and trite "crisis of faith." All text, no subtext. Blech.

Top Gun - no idea how many times I've seen this, but I can't say enough how much I love this movie

A "submarine-to-freighterbridge" one-shot just blew my mind.McParadigm wrote:Currently admiring Morituri.

I watched "Sing Street" earlier.
