I've had employers use this same logic on me during evaluations and I fucking hate it. If ten is some kind of hypothetical, near impossible goal, then why even include it as an option?

Also, the qualifier in this particular case is "absolute favorite band." So you can kind of ignore the stars and look at them as arbitrary, if you like, and just focus on the text descriptions. I completely understand the idea that Pearl Jam is not your all time favorite band, but is in your personal top 5 and thereby deserves a "9."
