what's odd is that if they called the album lightning, or bolt, it would have been fine but the two words together is terrible

The rumour started from an English translation to German, on a German site, translated back to English. So it's probably more like a Google translate variation on Lighting, Bolts, Thunder, Storm, etc...

What a way of saying honestly couldn't give a shit these days! I remember, quotes like this was what temporarily turned me off the band.

Lost Dogs is a phenominal title.
Ten is fine because of the reference. Out of context it's neither here nor there.

I agree with most of what you say here, but disagree that the archaic nature of 'Vitalogy' is a problem. The whole concept of Vitalogy (and it is a concept album), around that medical book, is probably the most imaginative thing they've done imo. If it's a little obscure and requires proper listening, all the better.

To me it just felt like they took too much. Just promote the book, guys. Don't turn your album artwork into a Cliff's Notes version.
