White House Press secretary Sean Spicer used his first press conference to dispute the reported low attendance at the inauguration, saying they actually had record crowds (the pictures and video show otherwise).
He blamed the media for this and said, "We're going to hold the press accountable." Then he refused to take any questions from reporters.
Former Bush WH press secretary Ari Fleischer tweeted, "This is called a statement you're told to make by the President. And you know the President is watching."
A few concerns with this. One, why is the first news conference about something so inconsequential? Next it's we, the media, the people, that should be holding them accountable for things like this. Let me repeat that. The media has to hold the President accountable for his actions, not the other way around.
What's interesting is that Brian Stelter from CNN said, "FYI, CNN made a conscious choice not to show the @PressSec statement live. The decision was to monitor the statement & then report on it."
If this is the way it's going to be, then CNN made the right decision. The media needs to refuse to cover events like this.
Day one is almost over. Worried to see what day two brings.

I dont think that is the point though. It wont do anything until 2 years from now and if these turn into votes.

Hopefully, it gets people fired up and actually involved. Solidarity isn't an awful thing either. Its also a good reminder that there are quite a few people who didnt fall in line behind Trump.
