Thanks weezer. With the exception of the Trump ep (which I boycotted), I've seen every episode since Woody Harrelson hosted in '89, and most of the earlier ones too. Have read all the books, listened to a lot of podcasts, and done the SNL tour. I even tried to get a gig on the show, on the sound crew, to no avail...

So I am a huge SNL dork. But I think it's the worst it's ever been right now, barring maybe the Dick Ebersol years.

I actually quite enjoy the Ebersol years. Sure there's rough stuff in there, but some real gems, as well.

Yea, the highs from the Ebersol years are excellent, but the lows are reeeeeally low.

But it's the only era that the word "fuck" made it on air.

Nope, Norm dropped one once during update. A big flew into his lip or something and he said "What the fuck was that?"

I thought that got bleeped.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I am pretty upset about a number of creative decisions that "the show" has made over the last several years. It is probably coloring my ability to enjoy it.

But then in my defense, I've never much enjoyed Aziz Ansari, and I know he's quite popular.

i'm not a huge fan of him either (admittedly i haven't seen his show or stand up specials), but i thought he did fine

Yea, she seemed super nervous. Aziz seemed super confident.

which is understandable on both accounts...the skits/writing were just better this week too

I thought the episode was pretty strong. Definitely better than the previous episode. But I'm not a big SNL guy, so my opinion here carries little weight. Overall, I thought it was really strong, despite some obvious technical issues and a terrible musical guest.

I loved Ansari on Parks & Rec. Watched a stand up special and thought he was awful, and it wasn't much better here. Thought he was an outstanding host though, he was great in every sketch he was in.

Yeah pretty much, but he's good at it.
