The same way there is more than Christianity in the real world, I'd love to see Star Wars explore what it means to have The Force without the one (two if you count The Sith) religion attached to it. What does it mean to be a Force wielder without the Jedi? That could be so fucking cool. And it would cement Luke's place for all time.

I doubt they'll go that direction but I think it could be so fucking cool.

I had this exact though the other day and posted it on a sw forum and was quickly schooled that they've already done this, that's what the sisters of dathomir etc are.

So I can't see a new 'religion' being introduced but only this week Pablo was ranting heavily against 'grey Jedi' saying there is no such thing so maybe he was protesting a little too much. Snoke and Kylo etc clearly aren't sith. So why would Luke and Rey be Jedi?

I think they've dropped all the rules /dogma and that's what the titles referring to.


Also means we can see Luke Be truly bad ass and use elements of the dark side as he did in Jedi

I could see them doing it here because it's a film. And whatever you're talking about isn't. And while I acknowledge and appreciate the greater canon, there are too many people that just don't give a shit about books/comics/cartoons/etc. If they want to formally introduce this idea, and make it stick, they'll have to do it in a film.

Again, I'm not saying they ARE going this way. But it is something that I think could be really cool.

The cliff hanger will be Rey being told two truths. She's either a Skywalker or being told she's something else.
Luke doesn't tell her the truth cos he's her father and killed her mother? Kylo or Snoke tells her this? Trying to tempt her?
And she'll be left teetering whether to go dark side or light.
