ok. so there's one (of 2) beer i've never cared for -- the black ipa (the other being any hefeweizen).

Have you had any of the legendary German ones, like Ayinger or Schneiderweisse?! Those are delicious, and put most US Hefes to shame.

not a big fan. and i can include witbiers as well. the yeast strains that they use just aren't enjoyable.

Sometimes starting or ending a night with Stiegl Radler is the best plan of attack. Technically a beer but drinks nothing like it. Refreshing like no other.

I've had 3 or 4 different black IPA's and really enjoyed all of them.

I agree, black IPAs are tasty but don't think I've had a hefeweizen. I haven't liked any of the sours or wheat beers I've tried.

I really enjoy these beers and I know the import journey is part of the price tag, but I still can't justify paying what bars and restaurants want for this stuff.

Yeah, I only drink them very ocassionally and give them as gifts for that reason. Though I'd love to sit down and run through a half dozen of them sometime when I'm wealthier.
