I just don't see how that helps him politically. Perhaps I'm misjudging (and overestimating) the electorate, but I would imagine even a good chunk of his supporters would be wondering why he's still harping on this. And again, there does not have to be that much movement for him to be a one-term president. If a few of his supporters are demoralized and stay home and a few of his opponents are energized to vote against him in a way they weren't for Clinton, he will have a rough time.

They are certain, to this day, that they are the majority.

...40% of Trump voters identified the wrong picture as being the one of trump's inauguration. 15% of Trump voters in another group identified the correct picture as being from this year, but insisted that IT HAD MORE PEOPLE IN IT than the other image. Not from memory, but WHILE looking at the image.

If he tells them he found proof of 10 million illegal votes, and that "certain measures" have to be taken to address voter fraud, they will believe it and cheer for how he is saving democracy.

Everything he's doing is red meat for his base. His supporters will LOVE the voter fraud stuff regardless of the outcome. I think he's done an incredible job winning their life-long support in the matter of about 5 days. I don't think those people will ever turn against him.

Whether he pivots and tries to assuage true conservatives and moderate Republicans will be interesting to watch. I think he's free to do so politically because I truly believe his true believers won't desert him no matter how much his actions go against what he's said and against their interests.

I generally limit myself to getting Trump news from this forum and YouTube videos from Bill Maher, The Daily Show, Seth Meyers, and the Late Show monologues. It keeps me up on what insanity he's up to with just enough humor to keep me from killing myself.
Wait, so you're saying the comedic stylings of Trevor Noah don't compel you to thoughts of suicide?
He's definitely not as funny as Stewart, but he hits home on the issues really well.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

So one thing I'm frequently amazed at is how Trump hasn't cared to purge any of his old Tweets dating back to 2011. Now, of course, it's too late, and people are motivated to create searchable archives of his tweets to go down in history.

The funny thing is I can only think of one instance that was reported of where a voter voted twice in this last election and she voted for Trump in both states.

Is this what was instituted last year but not in effect until now or is this something new? The Obama admin had already set a review panel for the EPA.

An administrative one? The last I remember reading was the 2009 revocation of non-scientific review processes, which he instituted.

Choking on Pretzel, Bush Faints Briefly

January 14, 2002|JAMES GERSTENZANG and THOMAS H. MAUGH II | TIMES STAFF WRITERS

WASHINGTON — President Bush briefly lost consciousness Sunday after he choked on a pretzel while watching a football game on television in his living quarters, the White House said.

After fainting, the president tumbled to the floor from a couch, bruising his lower lip and suffering an abrasion the size of a half dollar on his left cheek, White House physician Dr. Richard Tubb said.

Tubb, an Air Force colonel, said Bush recovered quickly.

"I do not find any reason that this would happen again," Tubb told news agencies in an interview arranged by the White House. "He fainted due to a temporary decrease in heart rate brought on by swallowing a pretzel."

Bush, 55, was found to be in good health during a full physical exam in August.

Aides say he conscientiously adheres to an exercise regimen, running on a treadmill in the White House residence, and while at his Texas ranch or Camp David, routinely racing through three-mile jogs in 21 minutes.
Or, you know...Bush.

I agree that key components of it are thoroughly neutered. However, the grants it oversees have funded some of the most valuable research ever produced on the effects and prevalence of carcinogens and toxins, and they are directly responsible for some key chemical and waste management laws.

I mean they also sat on the Flint thing for almost a year, so...

Maybe. Long-haul container ships are one of the biggest polluters on the planet. More so than cars (or so i read somewhere). If we have less international trade from Asia and less oil from the ME, it might actaully lower our carbon outputs.
