Not bad. Definitely not what I was expecting with that song title.

There are a few "rockers" on Riot Act that are easily better than this.stupidmop wrote:I.......like it. Probably thier best rocker since binaural.

Loved MYM, probably one of the best punk rock songs PJ ever (Better than Comatose IMO)
Better lead single than WWS and The Fixer.
Lets see how LB will go now.

not sure how it could be worse than backspacer. sounds like it was ripped straight from the S/T sessions. that is, it appears as though they (unsurprisingly) continue to till fallow creative ground.cutuphalfdead wrote:For sure. The bridge into the solo is fantastic.
Also love the drop just around 2-minute mark.

Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
It's not bad. It's also not really good. I think it would be much improved without (a) the lyric "mind your manners!" (b) the brief pause before each utterance of it, and (c) the stop-start toward the end of the song. I'm just not a fan of that little trick.
I liked it less by the end than I did before the first "mind your manners!" made me cringe a little bit, but maybe having more lyrics for context will take the edge off of that feeling.

Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
sent the youtube link to a friend who is a casual PJ fan. his review:
"It's got that newer PJ vibe to it, but with a stronger riff. I like it. More of a Yield/No Code vibe."

Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
Here's a stab.
I got an unfortunate feeling I've been beaten down
I feel life don't believe and the truth is coming out
What they take is more than about
they're taking your innocence and they're going bout burnin valhalla
I'm just saying
Mind your manners
I caught myself believin' that I needed god
and if it's heart and soul we sure could use it now
Try my patience, my patience tried
this world's alone and that makes me wanna cry
I'm just saying
Mind your manners
so I'm saying
Self realized and metaphysically redeeming, not live another life, not solve our mystery
right around the corner could be bigger than ourself, we could will it to the sky, or we could something else
You're no longer saying
Mind your manners
Always praying
Self realized and metaphysically redeeming, not live another life, not solve our mystery
right around the corner could be bigger than ourself, we could will it to the sky, or we could something else
Go to heaven, that's swell!
How do you like it, living hell!

yeah my initial thoughts are logical extension of self titled but I'll take that if it means we get another parachute--- wrote:not sure how it could be worse than backspacer. sounds like it was ripped straight from the S/T sessions. that is, it appears as though they (unsurprisingly) continue to till fallow creative ground.cutuphalfdead wrote:For sure. Re: First Single from #10: Mind Your Manners
I like it...pretty much in line with what i was expecting out of their lead single.
That said, this isn't really the type of music i'm excited to hear from these guys at this point. Give me another Nothing As It Seems over the 3 minute rocker anyday.

But this is OK, better than I expected.
